I worked at Avenue Coking Plant from 1973/1991. In its heyday, the plant employed 800 men. As the Coal Board was demolished, so was the work force. I have very interesting stories about the place. Some I would get life imprisonment should I own -up.

Shall I tell you one? Well, for a start, there were several men that worked their that cheated on getting paid when they were at home and not at work. What happened was someone clocked them in and off at the time clock, whilst they rested at home.
